The Artist

Baro Sarré combines in his work a passion for African history, graphic arts and Hip Hop culture. Trained in visual communication at a school of Applied Arts, he explores drawing, painting, sculpture, as well as photography, notably through his series "Human Spirit". His artistic signature is based on the reinterpretation of ancestral African scarifications, which he transforms into ultra-modern digital patterns. These marks, which he calls "Niass" in Wolof, symbolize for him beauty, resilience and the expression of emotions. His artistic duality reflects both an overflowing creative energy and a great wisdom, deeply linked to his cultural heritage. Patient and respectful of traditions, he draws inspiration from the stories of the elders to infuse his work with universal and timeless messages.

A futuristic contemporaneity

"My art is a continuous dialogue between the past and the present, a bridge between African and European cultures, an ultra-contemporary reinterpretation of the ancestral art of scarification through a futuristic digital aesthetic." Baro
